LANSING, MI 12/20/16 – Moneyball Sportswear, of Lansing, MI, continues to grow and expand. Owner and CEO Desmond Ferguson announced today the next step in his growth strategy, by hiring Matthew Haley as its VP of Sales starting in January. Haley is no stranger to the apparel and sporting goods world, and spent 12 years with Prince Sporting Goods as a road rep, VP of Sales, National Accounts Manager and minority owner. In addition to Prince apparel, Haley worked with premium apparel brands like Lilly of Beverly Hills, Wimbledon, US Open, Balle de Match, and J America Sportswear. Most recently he has been the Brand Manager for Kathy Ireland Worldwide and the National Sales Manager for the A.I. Root Company in Medina, OH while overseeing sales, marketing, key accounts, and go to market strategies.
“Sports have always been a big part of my life, from my days of playing college basketball and tennis, to being a tennis teaching professional, and then being involved in the sporting goods apparel industry. I first met Desmond a few years ago while coaching AAU basketball. I had some unique ideas for uniforms that I could not find in the marketplace and I reached out to Desmond and Moneyball Sportswear was able to deliver a high quality, custom product for my players. To be able to join this growing business and team is a wonderful opportunity.”
Mr. Ferguson views this as part of the growth strategy with the brand he started in 2002 after playing professional basketball and traveling around the world. “One of the huge growth opportunities that we see for our brand is in the high school uniform, college uniform, and AAU travel sports market. Matthew’s knowledge and experience as a rep, sales manager, and coach will help us to continue to expand our footprint outside the state of Michigan. We plan to deliver our product to countless athletes and sports organizations throughout the US.”
